Critical Infrastructure

Solutions for lower carbon emissions and health and safety improvements have been developed for the infrastructure projects through collaboration between an interdisciplinary team from the University of Edinburgh’s Business School and engineering group Costain. Using expertise across different academic fields, data-driven innovation has facilitated use of robotics technologies in harsh construction environments, and demonstrated that the distances covered by site vehicles could be reduced by up to 80% through combining GPS and on-board diagnostics data.
