As a global leader in Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS), Heriot-Watt University explores collaborative interaction between humans, robots and their environments at all levels. The University is currently leading a £36m collaborative project, the Offshore Robotics for Certification of Assets (ORCA) Hub. This brings together five institutions and 31 industrial partners to advance robotics and Artificial Intelligence technologies for the inspection, repair, maintenance and certification of offshore energy platforms and assets.
The ORCA Hub’s activities are designed to lead advancement in key robotics and Artificial Intelligence technologies that will create a step change in the current practices of offshore inspection, repair and maintenance.
In 2018 the project won a prestigious Guardian University Award for Business Collaboration and was a finalist for the Partnership award at the Herald Higher Education Awards.
