MyData Global gather in Edinburgh

On 19-20 March 2019, the MyData Global community visited Scotland’s capital to set out plans for its future activities and ambitions. The tenth spring meeting was held at the University of Edinburgh’s InSpace facility and was hosted by the Data-Driven Innovation initiative.

Speaking to delegates, DDI Director Jarmo Eskelinen welcomed MyData to Edinburgh and provided an overview of the wide range of activities that have been supported by the University of Edinburgh’s role in the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal, including industry partnerships across data ethics, healthcare, and robotics.

MyData’s leadership team used the two-day event to kick off a ‘visioning process’ with plans to publish the final document at the MyData 2019 conference on 25-27 September 2019. This year’s annual conference is expected to attract around 1000 experts from business, legal, tech, and society sectors, who will gather in Helsinki to discuss how to effect the change in the use of data.

MyData were in Edinburgh to coincide with Scotland’s data showcase, DataFest, and organised a fringe event on ‘Mapping Data Ecosystems Workshop’.
